Here it is, the next step 2.0 of my grappling hook, now purely for internal lines and UCI-compliant!
These small hooks help you to get into the cockpit and give you more grip. Just sit on it, hook it in and start shooting. Because you build up a slight tension with your index, middle, ring or little finger, you sit more compactly - and at the same time more calmly. And you always have a reminder to keep it that way and not soften the aero position when nobody is looking. Or you just get tired. You can use the resistance in both directions, and there is a slight depression for the front and back. The distance from the cockpit to the saddle can always be kept in view. In case you, like me, like to move further forward under higher loads - or make yourself really small and long on high-speed descents. Another advantage: On bad asphalt, when it really rumbles, it's not so easy to knock the extensions out of your hand.
The attachment is very easy, this version only works with completely internal cables: The hooks are simply attached with adhesive tape, preferably with duct tape, at the end of the extension with the switch buttons. After that, I always put a layer of grip tape over it for the final hold of the hook and the hand. The highlight of this tape instead of classic handlebar tape or neoprene covers: as the name suggests, it simply has more grip, even when wet. Of course, the grappling hooks also work with normal handlebar tape or under neoprene and rubber covers, such as those used in Canyon's Speedmax models.
Due to the height of only 40 millimeters including the grip tape, this also goes through the UCI approval. Scope of delivery: two grappling hooks and two pieces of plain black grip tape for the usual 22.2 millimeter extension tube. Depending on the scope and switch, you may need to trim something with scissors or a cutter. Anyone who still shifts mechanically or with the older Di2 or eTap needs the version with a cable duct, see here .
