Profile Design has now reached the next escalation level towards the semi-custom cockpit with the 52 ASC Extensions in 400 length.
Only the clamp and the grip area are round here. Everything else is kammtail-shaped and therefore more aerodynamic. In addition, the carbon "tubes" disappear completely under the forearm due to the bend, see the competition photo on my Cervélo P5 (with version 43 ASC installed). This works better the more tilt you´re riding your cockpit. You can't get any closer than with these carbon extensions to custom models, which are all well into the four-digit range. In addition, the adjustability is still available here, which in my opinion is much more important for the vast majority of pilots, including myself, than looking like a professional.
Unlike the 43 ASC, the angle of the handle is 52 degrees steep and a full two centimeters longer. This is good for tall people and anyone who likes to have a longer reach with his hand position. This means that the hands are positioned even further in front of the head, reducing the forehead area.
The key data: 22.2 clamp and therefore suitable for all standard clamps. Inner diameter 19 millimeters, so the RS910 junction box from Shimano's Di2 fits in there. 400 millimeters long, the grip area is 137 millimeters high from the middle of the clamp to the end of the shifter mount and bent at 52 degrees. 240 grams per pair.
For all pilots suffering from the UCI regulations, however, care must be taken not to exceed the height difference from the end of the shifter to the middle of the pad. This depends on the size, is not entirely straightforward and, in my opinion, is complete bullshit. If you want to get into it in more detail, I recommend my blog from 2023, which is in two parts. See here and here and enjoy reading. New again for 2024: The extensions can have a full 30 degree inclination.
These extensions are of course also available with a 43 bend here and for smaller people in a 340 length here.
The ideal computer holder from 76 Projects is available here in my shop, see also the last picture for mounting at the very front of the round part.
If you are still looking for the right Profile Design arm pads and angle spacers, you will find them here and here and can tune your previously run-of-the-mill looking and feeling cockpit without spending a fortune. And always remember: only those who rest comfortably on their bars will stay like that for a long time. And fast. Because #aeroiseverything.
Further tuning parts for your aerocockpit are my own grappling hooks.
Attention: If you want to assemble these parts, ride them and then return them scratched and used, please wait until they are available on Amazon. The parts are currently extremely hard to get and almost as rare as 400 watts of threshold power. Thank you for your understanding!
